SON ET LUMIERE AND INTERACTION WITH DIRECTOR OF ALIPORE JAIL MUSEUM
IBSA organised a thought-provoking evening with fellow IBSA members at the Alipore Museum on 5th March, 2026. The immersive Son et Lumière show was preceded by an engaging interaction with the erudite and distinguished historian Dr. Jayanta Sengupta, Director of the Museum. He shared fascinating insights into the rich history of the Alipore Jail across the colonial and post-colonial periods, and its significant role in India’s freedom movement.
The jail once housed several prominent inmates including Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhas Chandra Bose, Aurobindo Ghosh, Dr B. C. Roy, and Dinesh Gupta of the famed Binoy-Badal-Dinesh trio.
