20th National Convention of UN Global Compact Network India (UN GCNI)

The 20th National Convention of UN Global Compact Network India (UN GCNI) in association with IBSA was held on 12th December, 2025 at The Westin Rajarhat, Kolkata. The Convention was centered on the theme “Financing a Sustainable Future: Aligning Capital with Climate, Equity, and Growth.”

 

Some key highlights of the Convention were:

    • Participation of over 600 delegates, fostering vibrant dialogue and meaningful knowledge exchange
    • The launch of the UN GCNI Compendium and a White Paper by Intueri Consulting, titled ‘The Hard Economics of India’s Transition: How Capital, Capacity and Institutions Will Shape the Low-Carbon Future’
    • In-depth discussions on critical thematic areas such as renewable energy and low-carbon infrastructure financing, adaptation and resilience project funding. Also ESG-linked finance instruments and technology enablers like AI, blockchain and fintech for sustainability
    • A highly engaging Oxford-style debate

 

Among the distinguished speakers were Ms. Arundhati Bhattacharya, President & CEO at Salesforce South Asia and Former Chairperson, State Bank of India and Mr. Chandra Sekhar Ghosh, Chairman Bandhan Group, Former MD & CEO of Bandhan Bank, who in their keynote address, shared insights on long term impact that climate and sustainable finance can bring about both in social sphere and business.

 

The UN GCNI 20th convention thus provided a platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing amongst the stakeholders, resulting in partnerships to channel both private and public capital toward achieving India’s sustainability and climate goals.
