Celebrating Life with Cancer Survivors

On 22 March 2025 The Indo-British Scholars’ Association (IBSA) organised a heartwarming event, “Celebrating Life with Cancer Survivors” to honour the resilience of patients treated at Tata Medical Center (TMC). Held at Premashraya, a residential facility in Kolkata providing a “home away from home” for patients and families, the event was an uplifting experience for all attendees.

 

Conceived by IBSA members Dr. Rizwan Javed and Ms. Aakriti Jhunjhunwala, the initiative aimed to bring joy to Premashraya’s residents. IBSA, a platform for UK alumni across diverse fields. Past President Mr. Subrata Paul, Vice President Ms. Reetasri Ghosh.and Treasurer Mr. Sameer Nandwani presented a donation cheque of ₹1 lakh to Mr. Sanjeev Agarwal, Director Finance at Tata Medical Center and Mrs. Sudeshna Dutt, Head of Operations-Premashraya, to further support patient care. The event was also attended by the Executive Committee and senior members of IBSA.

 

The celebration featured a lively magic show for child patients, followed by singing, dancing, and the children joyfully chanting “Gili, Gili Abra Ka Dabra!” Each child received a gift bag filled with toys, colouring books, stationery, chocolates, and biscuits, donated by generous supporters.

 

The event concluded with a hearty lunch for over 160 patients, including both children and adults, sponsored by Mr. Mukund Agarwal and Mr. Aman Agarwal. This inspiring afternoon reflected IBSA’s continued commitment to spreading happiness and making a positive impact.
