Feminist Approaches to Art Therapy : Embracing Art for Social Change A Talk by Professor Susan Hogan, PhD, D. Litt

As a precursor to International Women’s Day, IBSA and British Council organised a special talk by Professor Susan Hogan, PhD, D. Litt on Feminist Approaches to Art Therapy: Embracing Art for Social Change at British Council on 7th March 2025.

The session began with brief visual clips and a talk by Professor Susan Hogan from the University of Derby, UK. She proceeded to engage jn conversation with Dr. Oihika Chakrabarti, Art Psychotherapist (DAT), Founder Director – Manahkshetra Foundation. The insights drawn were that while art therapy is a powerful tool for healing, it can also be used for rewriting narratives and creating safe inclusive spaces for voices to be heard. The evening ended with an informal engagement and discussion with a lively audience.
